Finally, the light of day! Well, folks, I guess you know by now that I made it. I didn't want to come out quite yet, it's so comfy inside mom's tummy. But they brought me out anyway, early this morning. So I had my Birthday, the real one. Mark this on your calender folks: Ethan Eugene Hennis, Born May 20 2008 at 3:42 A.M. My birthstone is an emerald, and my aunt Merl and I are both under the sign of Tarderus (inside joke). My Grandpa Hennis had his birthday a few days ago, I think he is older than me. I had to go for some special care because of something called blood sugar. After a few hours in the NICU unit I am doing good and holding my own. I'm still in the baby ICU, but the wires are all gone. I had a stuffy nose too, but that's gone also. The nurses say I should be able to go home with my mom. Mom and me are going to be in the hospital for a few more days, and we would like our privacy. Healing from birth is a tough thing for mom and me, and we feel it's a personal time for us. Vists and well-wishes are acceptible after we get home, and we'll let you know when we do. For those of you not present in the Post-partum ward at our hospital, here are a few pics. Enjoy!
Dad holding me. I know it looks like a blanket burrito, but it's really me.
Here's my handsome face. I don't like the hat, yeah it has blue stripes, but it also has pink ones. I'm a boy.
Just in case you can't read the card on the invisible forcefield box I lay in:
Hennis Baby Boy room:8
born:May 20, 2008 time: 0342
weight:5lbs, 0oz. (even though I saw the scale say 4lbs, 15.7oz.) length: 18"
mother: DaNell Hennis
Don't mind the elephant, it's stuffed. I hunted it myself.
No, dad isn't buying me from the strange people that live down the block. He placed something called a money on my chest for a visual scale comparison. I know I am worth much more than that.
Sticking my tongue out at "low birth weight" stats. I'll beat this. I'm strong.
My first bath. All the other ones got deleted 'cause I was embarassed to show my bare tush to the world.
I know it looks like torture, but I had to burp.
This "onesy" is sized for a premie. I guess I need to gain some weight.
This one is for a "New born." I thought I was a new born.
We're a happy Forever Family!
Dad still hasn't got it out of his system yet. Some of you understand what this one is about.
Looking much better after a few days of special care.
Thanks everyone for your prayers and well-wishes. I hope to meet you all as soon as I can.
Cheers!
